Bulk fuel storage

Daily

  1. Check for any direct visible leakage and damage.

 

Weekly

  1. Inspect leak detector for indication of fluid.
  2. Inspect for leaks on pumps, filters, hoses, nozzles, joints and fittings.
  3. Inspect nipples, spill containment and manholes for paint or powder coating decay.
  4. Inspect piping and fitting for rust.
  5. Inspect pump meter and reset button.
  6. Inspect fuel gauge for proper operation and condition.
  7. Inspect spill containment for debris.
  8. Inspect readability of signs and (procedure) notices.

 

Monthly

  1. Inspect for (small) cracks in concrete, bund wall and other enclosures.
  2. Inspect for water in the storage tank bottom under the fuel.
  3. Inspect the tank (visually), including under the tank for any signs of leakage.
  4. Inspect electronic leak detection.
  5. Inspect all nozzles, hoses and fittings for wear and tear.
  6. Inspect pump motor for signs of over-heating, vibration and excessive wear.
  7. Inspect signs and decals.

 

Annually

  1. Inspect slab and supports of unit for structural soundness.
  2. Inspect body of tank for cleanliness, need of paint, or rusting where applicable.
  3. Inspect trigger mechanism on nozzle for metal fatigue or mechanical failure.
  4. Check grounding wires to see that they are properly attached to the tank terminals and grounding rod.
  5. Inspect dispenser filter.
  6. Inspect fuel for bacterial infestation or microbial growth and/or gelling.
  7. Inspect all electrical wiring, connections and insulation.
  8. Inspect the emergency relief vent.
  9. Inspect leak detection device and check for proper operation.
  10. Inspect the calibration of the fuel gauge.
