CITP and CITS Awarded the e-Competence Quality Label

The Netherlands (1 Aug 2018) – EPI’s CITP (Certified IT Professional) and CITS (Certified IT Specialist) training and certification programs have been awarded the e-Competence Quality Label. These are the first, and currently only, certified IT programs addressing all domains of the globally used and widely recognized e-Competence Framework (e-CF).

According to the CEO of EXIN, Bernd Taselaar, “The CITP and CITS have passed the very stringent quality indicators of the e-Competence Quality Label. Being awarded this quality mark shows clear evidence of the careful development of the course programs and transparency of their learning outcomes. Especially through the authorised mapping against the e-CF. CITP and CITS ensure that participants acquire relevant skills for working in today’s IT industry. Employers can be assured that their staff or new hires will acquire the required skills and competences to immediately be effective in their roles.”

According to Jan Willem Mooren, the lead course developer for the CITP and CITS, “The CITP and CITS are 2 out of the 3 courses in the EPI IT Management Training Framework, the third being CITE (Certified IT Expert) which is set for release in 2018. This unique set of courses are truly unmatched and those obtaining the CITP, CITS and eventually CITE certifications will soon stand out in the industry. We have already seen evidence of employment agencies and HR departments using the e-CF to carefully map the organisations’ ICT needs to skills required and CITP/CITS provide them with the one-stop-shop solution.”

Mooren continues, “There are many specialised IT certification courses in the market which map to only one, two or maybe three specific competences out of the e-CF. Until the arrival of CITP and CITS there was simply no training or certification program that encompasses the entire spectrum of the competences outlined in the e-CF. One of the often-heard complaints in the industry is that employees come back after training with no clear evidence of skills enhancement, often making the organisation wonder what is the value of sending IT staff for training. That has now all changed and the feedback we had so far has been outstanding with organisations indicating that staff finally understand how IT should, and can, add business value. These courses clearly stitch all the IT disciplines together and enable organisations to implement IT services at higher level of efficiency, reducing the margin for error, and all around higher productivity and cost effectiveness.”

About e-Competence Quality

The IT certification world is a complex and confusing jungle with thousands of certificates, ranging from technical to management, from foundation to expert. Moreover, these certificates seem to live in their own universe, parallel to that of vocational and higher education. The lack of transparency is a nightmare to HR departments, employers large and small searching for talent, professionals seeking guidance in taking their career step, and curricula developers who want to provide contents.

The e-Competence Quality Labels aim to solve this issue. Based on the e-Competence Framework (e-CF) and a set of quality indicators (developed in the eSkills Quality Label project), training and certification programs meeting these criteria are awarded the e-Competence Quality Labels and will be listed on the e-Competence Quality website to distinguish themselves.
