EPI Launches ANSI/TIA-942 Certified Consultant and Auditor Trainings

Singapore, 7 Jan 2014

EPI today released two new courses "Certified TIA-942 Design Consultant" (CTDC) and "Certified TIA-942 Internal Auditor" (CTIA). These courses are the first certified training in the world on the ANSI/TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standards for Data Centres. Before this, there was no benchmark to verify the capability of TIA-942 designers and auditors for the data centre. Customers have been left to their own assessment to determine the capability of the designers and auditors. Now, the data centre industry can use the CTDC and CTIA as references to validate the designers and auditors they work with and/or the data centre professionals they employ.

These two new courses comes under the 3rd track of EPI’s Data Centre Training Framework©, which is ‘Standards/Compliance’. EPI has a third course which will complete this track which is the “Certified TIA-942 External Auditor” (CTEA) which is under development right now. It is planned for release at the end of this year. All EPI’s courses are globally accredited by EXIN to ensure impartiality in the awards of the certificates and this include the CTDC and CTIA certifications.

“Nine months ago, in April 2013, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and (Enterprise Products Integration) EPI entered into a licensing agreement for EPI to build and conduct certified training courses for the ANSI/TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standards for Data Centres,” said Edward van Leent, Chairman and CEO of EPI. “Our team of data centre experts and consultants have been working intensively to design and write the contents for thesecourses. We wanted to release the courses earlier but at EPI we have always been committed to delivering high quality programs that provides high value to our clients, so we decided to extend our development schedule to ensure that we meet that commitment and to ensure that these courses meet the quality of the accreditation and certification rules of EXIN.”

“EPI has been conducting audits based on the ANSI/TIA-942 standard ever since it was released and has conducted by far the largest number ANSI/TIA-942 related data centre audits in the world. EPI is also a member of TIA as well as the committee developing the ANSI/TIA-942 standard and is therefore uniquely positioned to develop these courses based on the standard and our audit experience,” said Edward van Leent. “Many consultants, designers, auditors, end-users, data centre operator/owners etc, don’t always fully understand the requirements of the standard or give it their own interpretation of what they think the requirements are. This has led to issues on quality of implementation and over- or under investments in data centres. This usually means money being wasted andmore than that, it puts companies at risk because of design/implementation issues giving availability expectations which are not aligned with the business requirements. Many data centre customers have indicated that they would like to have a training on the ANSI/TIA-942 to get a better understanding of the standard to ensure proper usage. These courses will help to raise the quality of ANSI/TIA-942 based implementations in the industry.”

The Certified TIA-942 Design Consultantand Certified TIA-942 Internal Auditor courses are being rolled out progressively to over 80 locations worldwide via EPI’s country offices and EPI partners’ training centers.
