Singapore (7 Sep 2015) – EPI launches Virtual Instructor-Led-Training (VILT) delivery option today to reach out to customers who are not able to travel to attend EPI’s specialised data centre courses due to budget and schedule constraints.  Two training courses from the EPI Data Centre Training Framework will be offered on the VILT platform at this time.  The two courses are the Certified Data Centre Risk Professional (CDRP) and Certified Data Centre Migration Specialist (CDMS). 

According to Edward van Leent, Chairman & CEO of the EPI Group of Companies, “We have been deliberating the implementation of VILT for our training programmes for a long time.  As our foremost priority has, and always is, to ensure our customers are able to learn effectively.  There were two main points of contention in our deliberations.  Firstly, was the bandwidth availability in some of the 120+ locations we serve, and secondly, the availability or lack of sufficient interactive features in the VILT platforms we surveyed.  We have kept an eye on the developments in these areas, and we believe now the timing is right.  Internet infrastructure has improved - bandwidth and connection stability are at an acceptable level in most major cities.  The VILT technology in the market has also made great strides with many more interactivity features we considered to be appropriate for courses not requiring extensive whiteboarding from both students and trainers.  We have done extensive testing and we are satisfied with the results knowing that our students for the CDRP and CDMS courses will have a great learning experience on the VILT platform.”

EPI has selected the Cisco Webex Training Center as our VILT platform.  It is able to offer great interactivity, with built in tools such as high-definition video, break-out sessions, real time video and data sharing, integrated testing and polling, chats and threaded Q&A, and much more.  The rollout will be done in stages.  In this first phase, the VILT CDRP and CDMS courses are available for customer registrations in Asia, and following that will be Europe, North America and the rest of the world.
